Meet our Principal

Mrs. Christina Gamez

Welcome to Bill Burden Elementary School!  I am so happy to be serving our community in the capacity of Principal. It is my pleasure to help lead Burden students forward in their academic, social, and emotional goals. 

My first teaching job was at Burden in 2012, and then I moved to help open Rancho Sienna in 2017. In 2020, I moved to open Santa Rita Elementary, where I taught and completed my Admin internship. In 2021, I returned to Burden to serve as the Assistant Principal.

I graduated from Texas A&M University and received my masters from Lamar University. I have an amazing husband named Nick, who is a youth/young adults pastor at our church in North Austin, and we have 2 sons, Samuel and Levi.

I cannot wait to get to know each of you and learn more about your families this year. I am so blessed to join this amazing community and grow with you this year!

Meet our Assistant Principal

Mrs. Joyce Milam

Hello, Burden Families!

My name is Joyce Milam, and I am incredibly honored to serve as your Assistant Principal.

I am proud to say that I am a lifelong Panther—I bleed purple! I have been part of the LHISD community since the 2nd grade and am a proud graduate of LH High School. After high school, I attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. With over 20 years in education, I have taught Kindergarten and 3rd grade and previously served as BBE's Behavior Interventionist. Additionally, I hold a Master's degree in Education Administration from Lamar University.

When I am not at school, I cherish spending time with my family and friends. My husband Zack and I have two wonderful children, Blaze and Marlee, along with three adorable dogs that keep us busy!

At BBE, I firmly believe in the power of our partnership. Together, we can create an environment where every child is nurtured, respected, and inspired to overcome challenges each day. Please know that my door is always open!
